Our Projects
The Cardiff-by-the-Sea Foundation (CBSF) was incorporated in July 2016 to provide funding for community improvements. Projects and activities are coordinated with Cardiff 101, a separate community organization. Cardiff 101’s mission is “to provide attractive entrances into Cardiff-by-the-Sea, to secure a safe and healthy environment, and to promote a walkable community that provides goods and services for residents and visitors alike.”
Downtown Cardiff Holiday Tree
Now your donation goes twice as far! Cardiff Town Center LLC, the operators of the retail complex, have generously offered to match all tree donations up to the cost of the tree in this campaign.
The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time for a little upgrade!
The beloved Christmas tree in the Cardiff Town Center has brought joy for many years — but it’s had its time. This year, our partners at Cardiff 101 are raising funds for a brand-new tree that will light up our community from Thanksgiving through the New Year.
Your tax-deductible donation will help us bring new life to this cherished tradition and keep Cardiff glowing bright for the holidays. Every contribution makes a difference!
Help us reach our goal of $8,500! Donate today and help make Cardiff shine brighter than ever!
Cardiff Kook Accessible Pathway
The Foundation seeks to work with public agencies to create and maintain a durable accessible pedestrian pathway from the Kook intersection to the San Elijo State Beach entry.
HSP Surfer Monument
Cardiff-By-The-Sea has a long and colorful history as a worldwide hub for surfboard shapers, those individuals who design and build surfboards. This project will be a monument and recognition of the craft, as well as noteworthy shapers over the decades.
Harbaugh Seaside Parkway
2017 marked the origination of CBSF activity, when the George and Betty Harbaugh Charitable Foundation confirmed a multi-year grant to beautify the former Carpenteria Parkway, now named the Harbaugh Seaside Parkway. The landscaped walkway extends along the southern end of the Cardiff Rail Trail near busy San Elijo Avenue and is maintained by the City of Encinitas, featuring native plants and interpretive signs.
Manchester Intersection Beautification
Improved the pedestrian safety and aesthetics of this difficult neighborhood intersection.
